Outline • Discuss ways in which the use of media and mobile technologies can contribute to teaching and learning outdoors, and help capture learning that has taken place outside the classroom. • Investigate ways of using map tools to enhance teaching and learning in geography • Discuss the use of simulations for making sense of complex situations in geography. • Consider how findings can be represented through infographics, graphs and charts. • Apply some of these techniques to the development of a geography resource on an environmental theme providing challenge in terms of geography and ICT.

Project 2: Plan a short unit of work around a simulation tool on an environmental theme for pupils in Key Stage 2. • KS2 Attainment Target: Human and physical geography • Describe and understand key aspects of: physical geography, including: climate zones, biomes and vegetation belts, rivers, mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes, and the water cycle human geography, including: types of settlement and land use, economic activity including trade links, and the distribution of natural resources including energy, food, minerals and water.
