  1. 3ds max pipeline • Use postprocessed(properly cut) • Movie from Overview Camera • MOVEN file as .bvh • Vicon file as .fbx • Create two bipeds in 3ds max and load the .bvh files as motion capture onto them • Rescale the time to match the number of the frames in the video • Open a new 3ds max file and use the Movie as the viewport background • Import the Vicon data, rescale the time and roughly rotate it onto the Movie background • Use Camera Matching from 3ds max to select several visible points in the Vicon data and then on the background to re-create the proper camera position

  2. 3ds max pipeline • Model objects into the scene as required (watch, tables, etc.) • Import the bipeds into the scene • For each biped: • create an animation layer • do a key bind to the first frame • hit the animation button • using the move/rotate tool, and shuttling back and forth, optimize the position of the bipeds to exactly match the Video • Optimize the positions and handling of the scene objects in a similar fashion using, for example, animated link constraints as well as linking to Vicon motion • Insert light source and render as required! • Done!

  3. 3ds max pipeline - comments • The whole process takes an experienced user ~2hrs • It vastly improves the quality of the Vicon– Moven integration to yield more correct combined data • Use the automatically prepared sequences with care!
