THE EUROPEAN UNION ON YOUR DOORSTEP: new generation of information relays launched From 1 May 2005 anyone looking for information about the EU can turn to a new set of local outlets called the “EUROPE DIRECT Information Network”. The network takes over from the Info-Points Europe and Carrefours, which traditionally provided the public with facts and figures on EU-related matters on the urban and rural areas respectively.

Europe Direct information relays MISSION OF THE NETWORKEUROPE DIRECT INFORMATION RELAYS ACT AS AN INTERFACE BETWEEN CITIZENS AND THE UNION AT LOCAL LEVEL • enable local citizens to obtain information, advice, assistance and answers to questions about the European Union’s institutions, legislation, policies, programmes and funding opportunities; • actively promote local and regional debate about the European Union and its policies; • allow the European institutions to improve the dissemination of information tailored to local and regional needs; • give the public the opportunity to send feedback to the European Union institutions in the form of questions, opinions and suggestions.

  11. EUROPE DIRECT VENEZIA-VENETO Venice has an European Information Office since 1998. The former Info Point Europa Venezia (IPE) is run by the Municipality of Venice (www.comune.venezia.it) on agreement with the European Commission. It is part of the municipality bureau of information and is coordinated by U.R.P. (Ufficio Relazioni con il Pubblico – Public Relation Bureau). Our Office has also EURODESK – PLD Local Point.

Our partners are several public institutions as: Veneto Region Provinces of Venice, Rovigo, Belluno, Padova Veneto Chamber of Commerce IUAV University of Architecture Big Municipalities (Chioggia, ect)

EUROPE DIRECT VENEZIA-VENETO ACTIVITY INFORMATION HELPDESK ED knows the E.U. main themes quite well and will always do our best to answer your questions immediately.  Sometimes even our expertise could be at loss. Because there is just too much information available. In case we would not be able to answer at once we will strive and help you to find the information you need. ED can consult with citizen the few databases that are not free. ED has also EURODESK data-base, as EURODESK - PLD Local Point

EUROPE DIRECT VENEZIA-VENETO ACTIVITY • PUBLICATIONS • ED distributes many free publications: official documents, magazines, leaflets, maps, CDs, VHSs, posters and other material published by the Publications Bureau of the European Commission. ED publishes other material about themes that Publications Bureau doesn’t publish, like folders and books for children. ED run promotional campaigns in the region media (TV, radio, press).

  16. EUROPE DIRECT VENEZIA-VENETO ACTIVITY • SCHOOL • ED visits a lot of schools playing with students together with the “In travel for Europe” game/lesson. ED organises competitions for classes of young people like the “Schuman project”.
