  2. Summary 12-year old Percy Jackson goes on a field trip to a museum to learn about the Greek gods. While learning about Zeus, his teacher Ms. Dodds pulls him aside. She suddenly turns into a demon and attacks Percy. After barely escaping with help from his other teacher, he learns that the gods are real, and that he is a demigod (half-human, half-god). He then goes to Camp Half-Blood—a camp for demigods like him—and learns how to fight off monsters. He also finds out that his father is the sea god, Poseidon. Everything seems ok, until Zeus becomes angry with him. His master lightning bolt has been stolen, and he thinks Percy has it. Zeus says that if his bolt is not returned to him by the summer solstice he will wage war on the world. Percy then goes on a quest to find the bolt, and prove that he is not a thief. Will he find the bolt? Will he make his father proud? Will he save the world? Read The Lightning Thief to find out.
