  3. Romans 7:14-24 I, me, my = 39 times!

Galatians 3:23-25 • 23Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. 24So the law was put in charge to lead [tutor] us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. 25Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law.

  5. Law vs. Grace Law Grace Let Me do it for you! If you sin, you’ll miss out on the glorious things I have for you! • I’ll try harder! • If I sin, I’ll get punished!

  6. Isaiah 53:5-6 • 5But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed. • 6We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

  7. Galatians 3:1-5 • 1You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. 2I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? 3Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? 4Have you suffered so much for nothing—if it really was for nothing? 5Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard?

  8. 2 Corinthians 4:7 • 7But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

  9. Philippians 2:13 • 13for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.

  10. 1 John 3:9 • 9No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.

Steps to Freedom • Be accountable to God-given authorities • Engraft Romans 6 & Romans 8:1-15 • Apply Romans 6 when tempted • Make no provision for sin • Pictureyourself dead to sin! • Respond to promptings of the Spirit to overcome evil with good! • Pursue inner healing to remove all blockages of unbelief in your heart (Father Heart of God retreat, Cleansing Stream)
