The checking authorities test the doors against the fire, flames, heat, and smoke for a significant time that determines the fire ratings. The ratings can be different such as 45 minutes, 1-1/2 hour, 3hours, or 4hours. The time signifies that the door can withstand the fire and flames up to the specified duration.
