Not a Happy Fairytale.By Diana EstradaCharlie Higdon keeps you are the edge of your seat with all the terrifying encounters with the diseased enemy. You rejoice and cry with the children as you travel along side them as they experience the horrors and their losses. The happy moments are short lived but this isn't a ln apocalyptic fairy tale. The plot and the characters are well developed and the story line is written with so much detail that at times you feel a terrifying exhilaration.2 of 2 people found the following review

  2. helpful. Couldn't wait. I had it shipped straight from England.By Andrew ChavisI've been a huge fan of the series here in the United States and often purchased The Enemy series overseas from the UK so I might be a little biased. Higson has a great eye for details and it pours in his writing. I believe he had a great handle on the angst of the children and this novel shows it as well1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. walking dead as seen through kids eyes.By CustomerBest horror book series ever! I read all of them as they hit the book shelves. It was very hard to wait for the next installment. This is the first zombie series that I have ever read told by children and teens 16 years and under. Gruesome but all the kids seemed so hopeful. Lots of unexpected heroes. These kids kick butt. I'm 60 years old but absolutely enjoyed this teen series. Shadowman, realizing that Saint George's army is headed toward the center of London, has raced ahead to warn the kids of the impending disaster. He knows that he has to make them understand--somehow--that they are going to have to work together. This means that Nicola and her kids at the Houses of Parliament, David and his kids at Buckingham Palace, Matt at St. Paul's, General Jordan Hordern and his troops at the Tower of London, the squatters in St. James Park, and all the kids at the Natural History Museum must unite. But will they do it in time? The book culminates in a massive pitched battle in Hyde Park. How will it play out? Who will be the winners and who the losers? One thing is certain: this series will not go out with a whimper! PRAISE FOR THE ENEMYThe Enemy grabs you by the throat . . . and bites off your ear. It's kids versus zombies and no one is playing nice. The action--and boy, is there action--takes us through a London transformed by the unexplained illness that has turned every adult into a shuffling, drooling, kid-crunching machine. Bonus: zombie royals. Sheer fun."Michael Grant, author of the Gone seriesPRAISE FOR THE DEAD"With giant firestorms, rampaging hordes and continual life-and-death scenarios...Higson delivers an action-packed summer read."KirkusPRAISE FOR THE ENEMY"Lord of the Flies with zombies...tons of nail-biting action."Rick RiordanPRAISE FOR THE ENEMY"Descriptive and suspenseful."School Library JournalPRAISE FOR THE ENEMY"...the action is of the first order-Higson writes with a firestorm velocity that inspires to the sweeping reach of Stephen King's The Stand."ALA BooklistPRAISE FOR THE SACRIFICE"Death, religion, friendship, survival, power, politics, and fear are explored throughout this installment. The storylines run full speed ahead in this horrifying page-turner. The solid writing is, at times, brilliant . . .The unanswered questions will prime readers for the next in the series."VOYAAbout the AuthorCharlie Higson is an acclaimed comedy writer, producer, actor, and genuine James Bond aficionado. He is the author of the adult thrillers Full Whack and King of the Ants; the internationally best- selling Young Bond series: SilverFin, Blood Fever, Double or Die, Hurricane Gold, and By Royal Command; and five books in the Enemy series. Charlie is a fan of zombie movies and believes that we shouldn't try to prevent young people from experiencing fear, because it helps prepare them for later life. When writing The Enemy, he kept racheting up the action and description in an attempt to frighten the pants off his ten-year-old son. He lives in London.
