Player’s Development (Academy) U8 – U12 – “Golden Age of Learning”Virginia Youth Soccer Association Traditional Format • Focus on winning • A, B, C System • It is more about status/trophy • Team Development • Tactics > Technique • Stronger + Faster > Smaller + Skillful • Short-Term Goal • Fixed Teams • Inefficient Use of Space • More Anxious Players/Coaches/Parents • Less Creative Players LESS FUN!!! • Academy Format • Focus on development • Balance System • It is enjoyment of the game first • Individual Development • Technique > Tactics • Stronger + Faster = Smaller + Skillful • Long-Term Goal • Open Enrollment • Efficient Use of Space • More Relaxed Players/Coaches/Parents • More Creative Players • MORE FUN!!! • Organized sport loses 70% of its participants by age 14.

VYS U7/U8 Cross Over Academy and Jr. Academy U7/U8 Jr. Academy • Fridays U7 & U8 • 6 sessions / 1 hour per session • Topics: Passing, Receiving, Turning, 1 vr. 1, and Shooting • VYS House games on Saturdays • Max 60 per gender • Focus player development over team development U7/U8 Cross Over Academy • Mondays U7 / U8 Tuesdays • 6 sessions / 1 hour per session • Topics: Passing, Receiving, Turning, 1 vr. 1, and Shooting • VYS House Games on Saturdays 6 Cross over games U8 = LMVSC2 Cross over games U7 = TBD • Max 48 players per gender • Focus player development over team development

VYS U7/U8 Cross Over Academy and Jr. Academy U7/U8 Jr. Academy • Training by professional coaches • WillNOT be able to play 7 vr. 7 against other clubs • Set group of players training • 1/12 players ratio • No tryouts required. First come / first service • Alex Teixeira & Jane Dawber will direct the program U7/U8 Cross Over Academy • Training by professional coaches With the help from parent coaches • Opportunity to play 7 vr. 7 against other clubs • Pool players training • 1/12 players ratio • No tryouts required. VYS U7/U8 Cross Over Academy and Jr. Academy U7/U8 Jr. Academy • Parent coaches in house games • House Commissioners • VYS subsidizes partial payment • 4 vr. 4 or 5 vr. 5 NO GK • Players must be registered in VYS • Training session “Time slot” 3 early session / 3 late session U7/U8 Cross Over Academy • Jane Dawber will evaluate and direct the Cross Over games with the help from parent coaches • Age Group Coordinator • Parents will pay the full amount of the program • 6 vr. 6 or 7 vr. 7 with GK • Players must be registered in VYS. • Training session “Time slot” 3 early session / 3 late session

OF SESSIONS HOURS SEASON $80 SPRING TRAIN. 1 HOUR 6 TRAINING S. $55 CROSS OVER GAMES 6 GAMES TOTAL $135 • The Fees included: • Cross Over League Fee Registration • 6 Cross Over Games • Program Director, Jane Dawber, overseeing the Cross Over Games • 6 Training Sessions; ratio 1/12 players; 1 hour per session with a professional coach • 1 VYS Training/Game day shirt • Max 48 players per gender

Selection Procedure for the U9 travel • In both programs, Cross Over and Jr. Academy, the professional coaching staff will evaluate and recognize those that have the potential to possibly be part of the U9 travel Academy. • VYS Technical Director and/or a professional staff will attend few of the U7 & U8 House games. • 3 tryouts will be provided to all players who would like to participate in the U9 Travel in the end of the season.
