  14. Maak Reclame: Rotary International Programs Rotary’s Commitments to Youth Interact - Rotary clubs organize and sponsor this service organization for youth ages 14-18. Rotaract - Rotary clubs organize and sponsor this leadership, professional development, and service organization for young adults ages 18-30. Rotary Youth Exchange - Clubs and districts send and host students ages 15-19 who travel abroad for cultural exchanges of one week to a full year; about 8,000 a year. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) - Clubs and districts sponsor seminars to encourage and recognize leadership abilities of youth and young adults ages 14-30.

  16. Maak Reclame: Humanitarian Programs • Matching Grants projects have brought hope for a better life to people since 1965, with nearly 20,000 grants awarded, totaling more than US$198 million.

  17. Maak Reclame: Humanitarian Programs • The Health, Hunger and Humanity (3-H) Grants program, created in 1978, has made possible a wide range of sustainable development projects, such as the nationwide literacy effort in Bangladesh.

Rotary Organisation • There are now over 32,000 Rotary Clubs with a total Rotary membership of more than 1.2 million men and women. • There are 529 districts in the Rotary world – in 200 countries and geographic territories. • The Sultanate of Oman falls in District 2450 • 9 countries • Egypt, Lebanon, Cyprus, Jordan, Bahrain, Sudan, Georgia, Armenia, UAE • 4283 members • 130 clubs

Rotary in the Sultanate of Oman • First initiative to get Rotary Started in 2004 • Initiated by Rotary Club of Brussel-Coudenberg • March 2004 visit at which Rotary was discussed at high ministerial levels • Full support to the ideas behind Rotary H.E Moshin bin Khamis Al-Balushi, Under Secretary of Tourism, discussing the establishment of Rotary in Oman with members of the Rotary Club of Brussel-Coudenberg Former Dutch Prime Minister and Rotarian Dries van Agt thanking H.E. Sayyed Badr, the Under Secretary of Foreign Affairs for his support for the Rotary initiative.

Rotary in the Sultanate of Oman • Initiative re-vitalised in 2008 • Legal Requirements have now been addressed • Rotary in the Sultanate of Oman needs to be stablished as an association • Royal Decree 14/2000 for non-profit purposes • 40 Founder members needed • Application with Ministry of Social Affairs imminent • Local Rotary Clubs can then be informed under this umbrella • Rotary Club of Muscat is likely to be the first club in the Sultanate of Oman to be chartered in District 2450 • Formal launch held in January 2009 • Club has now some 40 active members
