  3. Authenticity Scientists are very interesting, but they come after the true connoisseurs. So fingerprints, all this stuff, is kind of that lovely what-if, but it’s not essential to the heart, to the artistic soul of the thing, and that has no Pollock soul or heart. Thomas Hoving The artworld doesn’t understand fingerprints, any more than it understands DNA. So you’re asking them to take what they don’t understand.
