  3. AROUND THE CLOCK ALL YEAR ROUND • The Swedish Coast Guard supervises, rescues and provides assistance at sea 24 hours a day, 365 days a year along the entire Swedish coastline.

  4. ORGANISATION • The Swedish Coast Guard has stations at 26 locations along the entire coast of Sweden. • The Head Office is in Karlskrona. From october 2011 • Two regional Command Centres situated in: • Stockholm • Göteborg • Two co-operation offices situated in: • Karlskrona • Härnösand

  5. ENVIRONMENTAL SURVEILLANCE • The Swedish Coast Guard is on permanent standby for environmental protection and prevents environmental crime at sea via environmental surveillance.

  6. PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT • A quick response is important for a successful operation. • To recover oil at sea is more time- and cost effective than recovering oil after it has reached the shore. • The Swedish Coast Guard always has at least four ships on stand-by for environmental protection for immediate response.
