  2. Why? • There has been an identified national and local increase in the number of cases where babies have died, and unsafe sleeping practices have been a feature of the death • These have sometimes occurred when Dad or other family member have been caring for the baby (often to give Mum a break) • These deaths are thought to mostly be avoidable

  3. Co-production • Health partners have worked with new fathers in a number of clinical settings to find out how they received information about safe sleeping • Overwhelmingly they told us that they did not have information specifically tailored to them • Most Dads felt they had not had enough information about how to make sure their baby sleeps safely • We asked them how they would like to have information – they told us short video was best

  4. Raising Awareness • Money sourced from NHSE to create a short video (90s full length, 30s shortened) • The video will target Dads but will be relatable to anyone caring for a young infant • Supported by London Irish Rugby Club who will feature in the video • Video will be easy to watch but with a serious message

  5. Next steps • Our filming date is arranged – production of the finished video is anticipated by middle of July • The video will be widely circulated to all organisations and can be used anywhere • We will have a website landing page with links to appropriate websites

  6. Thanks to… • Berkshire West and Berkshire East CCGs • Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust • Frimley Health NHS Trust • Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust • NHS Creative • Bracknell Forest Council and LSCB
