  3. Henry’s life • Henry was not obese all his life. • When he was young he loved sport’s • Henry Tudor, named after his father, Henry VII was born by Elizabeth of York June 28, 1491 in Greenwich Palace Since. he was the second son, and not expected to become king, we know little of his childhood until the death of his older brother Arthur, Prince of Wales. We know that Henry attended the wedding celebrations of Arthur and his bride, Catherine of Aragon, in November 1501 when he was 10 years old.

  4. Catherine of Aragon • Catherine of Aragon was the youngest surviving child of Ferdinand and Isabella, the joint rulers of Spain, and as was common for princesses of the day, her parents almost immediately began looking for a political match for her.

  5. Anne Boleyn • For a woman who played such an important part in English history, we know remarkably little about her earliest years. Antonia Fraser puts Anne's birth at 1500 or 1501, probably at Norfolk and the date of birth seems to be at the end of May or early June.

  6. Jane Seymour • It is believed that she caught the eye of Henry VIII in September 1535 when he visited her parents home in Savernake, Wiltshire. Henry was losing interest in Anne Boleyn, and Jane’s calm and gentle demeanour contrasted to the forthright Anne.

  7. Anne of Cleves • Henry VIII remained single for over two years after Jane Seymour's death, possibly giving some credence to the thought that he genuinely mourned for her.

  8. Catherine Howard • Kathryn Howard was the daughter of Lord Edmund Howard, a younger brother of Thomas Howard, Duke of Norfolk. She was also first cousin to Anne Boleyn, Henry's ill-fated second Queen.

  9. Catherine parr • Katherine Parr was the eldest daughter of Sir Thomas Parr and his wife Maud Green, both of whom were at the court of Henry Vlll in his early reign. Maud was a lady-in-waiting to Queen Catherine of Aragon and named her daughter, born in 1512, after her.

  10. Henry’s children • First Child - Mary Tudor who became Queen Mary I Second Child - Elizabeth who became Queen Elizabeth IThird Child - Edward who became King Edward Vl
