  4. Chapter 1 – Dwelling into the Viking Mist • “Viking” used late, newcomers remained rather unknown • society based on honour above all else • common occupations and activities • life governed by war • preferred weapon types

  5. Chapter 2 – The English and the Norse • both sides divided, plagued by conflict • Norse battle prowess compensates • English armies and lands disorganised • important battles

  6. Chapter 3 – Traces today • discoveries and remnants of the Old Tongue - treasure - weapons and armour - settlements - words, names of places

  7. The Vikings conquered vast lands • proved themselves to be settlers • conquered used as stepping stones • invaders feared because of the unknown • memories still scar the land
