  3. Rules to go by: • Always carry with two hands; one on arm and one on base. • Always store on low power (objective) with cord wrapped loosely around base. • Always store with course focus turned down. • Never clean with anything other than lens paper. • Never use course focus on high power.

  4. Calculating magnification…multiply the power of the lens (10x) times the power of the objective being used.Ex: on high power (40x), total magnification = 400x

  5. Image • The image you see is actually upside down and backwards from what is on the stage… • You have to move the slide the opposite way of what you would think to center the image.

  6. To Do: • Next to each label, summarize the function of each part. • Use Appendix D, pages 1070-1071 to help you with each part of the microscope shown.
