  1. Warm up 05-06-14 • Question: What is the equation for work? • Answer: • W = Fd • Work (J) = Force (N) x Distance (m) • Goal: I will learn the scientific meaning of work.

  2. Element of the day • 100 – Fermium – Fm • Enrico Fermi created and sustained the first nuclear chain reaction on Dec 2, 1942 under Stagg field at the University of Chicago. • This involved having the perfect ratio of the right isotope of uranium that is susceptible to neutron decay, having other substances to regulate the speed of the escaping neutrons and to have a lot of safety measures (control rods). The test was a success and lead to the development of the atomic bomb.

  3. Warm up / New & Good • Review / Recap • Prep lab • Notes – work & power • Problems • Tonight’s HW • NEW: pgs37-38, 41-42 • Know weight, bring sneakers • OLD: Pgs 1-36 Agenda / HW
