KOKOPO DEVELOPMENT HISTORY SHIFTING THE CAPITAL OF ENBP • Rabaul - former ENBP capital • Kokopo – Kokopo District Head Quarter • 1994 Volcanic Eruption - Kokopo as alternate government centre • Safe location + Already established • Vanadidir/Gazelle District - alternative with government offices & relocated in 2009. INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT • Restoration Program, World Bank Funded (GRA) • Establishment of Government Offices –added development (all sectors) • 13 years to become 4th Largest town in PNG, capital of NGI • Declared 4th City in PNG in 2015

EXISTING SERVICES IN KOKOPO CITY • 24 hr Water supply, 24hr electricity, sanitation (Kokopo Sewerage Upgrade), Refuse Collection, road network. • Commercial Banks, telephone and mobile networks, shops, and fresh produce markets • Elementary schools – Secondary, and colleges both public & private • Provincial Police Head Quarters NGI, and District Police Station • Cocoa/Copra buying points MUNICIPAL FACILITIES/SERVICES • Public cemetery, public parks, bus stops, landing area
