  4. Classroom Climate/Teacher Characteristics • Students feel valued and safe • Well-defined limits • No put-downs nor demeaning remarks • Emphasize learner responsibility • Encourages risk-taking • Genuinely cares about students • Firm, but fair • Enthusiastic • Realistic expectations

  5. Instructional Factors • Organization • Use of Time • Use Tech Tools • Keep them Involved • Immediate Feedback • Closure

  6. It Takes Planning Effective Management Doesn’t Just Happen

  7. It happens because you… • Clearly define rules and procedures • Establish a classroom layout conducive to learning, not disruption • Take into consideration the growth and developmental needs of the age group • Keep parents in the loop

  8. What we have discussed so far is really a way to help prevent problems, But, what if problems arise…..
