  1. Why We Love Bali… Must do activities for a Bali itinerary Make that dream a reality and book a holiday to beautiful Bali. There is so much to do here that it’s worth thinking about staying for as long as possible so that you can really immerse yourself in this stunning island. Below are some of Bali’s highlights… Bali is home to an array of lovely beaches where you can chill out for the day amongst stunning settings and watch the sunset. Jimbaran Beach is a popular spot, as is Kuta Beach which a great place to go and sit and watch the surfers take on the huge waves and the place where you are most likely to find a good party.

  2. You will certainly enjoy the culture in Bali. The Balinese people are a very kind and gentle nation and will welcome you to their country warmly. They are very religious people mainly practicing Hinduism, and you will see them putting offerings called Canang Sari, to the gods outside their homes and shops. There are lots of temples here which are fantastic to visit; one very famous one is Tanah Lot which is actually a rock formation in the sea and an ancient Hindu pilgrimage site. Shopping in Bali is great fun, especially if you like haggling to get a bargain. Kuta has some cheap shops and is a good place to get souvenirs and clothes. Seminyak is more upmarket and has lots of stylish fashion boutiques and home stores selling plush décor items. After a busy shopping trip, you can relax by sipping a nice cool Bintang (the local beer) or getting a foot massage at one of the multitude of spas.

  3. Yoga and meditation retreats are aplenty in Bali. Inland, the rice paddies and lush greenery are perfect backdrops for relaxing and restorative sessions. Ubud is a great town to visit for such retreats; it has culture and temples galore and you can often hear calming Balinese music called Gamelan being played in public places. If you are looking for an even more reflective sanctuary then you could even try a silent retreat! Ubud Monkey Forest is a popular attraction and sacred site of Bali which houses 3 temples; it is a unique but at times, scary experience. There are hundreds of Balinese monkeys that call this forest home and are not shy. Visitors are discouraged from taking food into the forest as the monkeys are fed sweet potato several times a day, and if you take food in then you can guarantee that they will sniff it out and try to steal it from you.

  4. There are lots of other islands scattered around Bali that you can also visit easily. The Gili Islands take about an hour and a half to reach by boat and once there you can experience an even slower and quieter pace of life than in Bali as there are no motor bikes or cars; you are more likely to travel by horse and cart or push bike. The beaches are stunning and the sea is clear and blue, so diving and snorkelling is definitely recommended. Remember… It’s not just about the destination but also the journey. It’s a really long flight to Bali so why not turn it into 2 holidays in one and enjoy a stopover. The UAE is a good half way point so you could take advantage of the Emirates Dubai Stopover programme and stay in Dubai for a few nights. You could opt for the the Trio Package where you get to experience a city sightseeing tour, a desert safari and a Dhow dinner cruise for only USD 115 per person. Lots of us from Brightsun Travel have visited Bali and can advise you on your trip. You can read more about their experiences in other blogs.
