  2. There are five different groups of animals with vertebrates. These classifications are: • Mammals • Fish • Reptiles • Birds • Amphibians

  3. An Emerald tree boa snake is a reptile because… • They have scales. • They have lungs to breath. • They lay eggs. • They are cold blooded.

  4. Appearance • Emerald Tree Boa Snake have green scales with white stripes. • As they grow older the green slowly gets darker. • The white stripes on it closely emulates the patterns of sun splotches.

  5. Camouflage The camouflage helps it so when the predator goes by he or she won’t see the boa snake because it is blended in with tree leaves.

  6. Habitat The emerald tree boas live in the canopy section of the rainforest in Northern South America. They spend most of their lives in trees. To climb trees, they hold onto a tree trunk with their tail and reach up with their head. They are mostly nocturnal.

  7. Behavior and social habits Emerald tree boas prey is small mammals and birds. In the wild they like to eat birds, rats, monkeys, bats, squirrels, and lizards. They use their mouth to detect heat given off by the prey and that’s how they get to the prey.

  8. Animal adaptation Emerald tree boas stay between the tree branches so the predator can’t get to the snake easily. They kill their prey by squeezing or constricting them. The boa has strong teeth so that the prey won’t get away when they are trying to eat them.

  9. Interesting facts The emerald tree boas are also known as green tree boas and emerald boa. The females do not lay eggs. They have live births and the babies are red.

  10. More Interesting Facts Emerald Tree boas grow to about 4 to 6 feet. They largest one found was about 10 feet long. They have a life span of about 15 years in the wild. The emerald tree boas are also kept as exotic pets. Emerald tree boas have a life expectancy of approximately 20 years.

  11. I hope you loved my slide show about the emerald tree boa snake.
