  2. Who am I? • Graduated from Norfolk Senior High 1996 • Attended UNL, and graduated in May 2002 • Started working with kids at YMCA Camp Kitaki during college

  3. Who am I? • Where I met my wife Liz • Teaches Spanish at Westside High School • We have 2 kids… Jasper and Magic

  4. Hobbies • Chicago Cubs • Camping • Reading • Sports • Traveling • Keeping up the house

Classroom Rules • Respect the rights of others- No put downs- Be your own boss- No negative attitudes • Raise your hand to speak- DO NOT talk over me or anyone else • Bring your materials to class every day- Don’t ask me if you need to bring a material….the answer is yes • Pick up after yourself!!- The janitors are not your maids!

  7. Consequences of Negative Behavior • Verbal or written warning • Detention • Detention/Parent Phone Call • Office Referral ** Steps may be skipped based on the severity of the infraction

  8. Required MaterialsBring these things every day!! • Pen or Pencil (Not red or something hard to read) • Textbook • Notebook (SOCIAL STUDIES ONLY) - I would suggest a 3 subject for the entire year • Assignment Notebook • AR Book

  9. Grading Policy • In this class we will use the total number of earned points divided by the total possible for grade averages. • Grade Scale A= 90-100 B= 89-80 C= 79-70 D= 69-60 F= Below 60

  10. Remediation • You may earn a passing grade on any assignment that you do not pass by correcting ALL incorrect answers, and retuning it to me within 5 school days. • The highest grade you may receive for any remediation is a 60%

  11. Bellringers!! • Bellringers are opportunities for you to write about the things we are talking about in class, quotes, or current events. • Bellringers will be done every day. When the tardy bell rings you are to begin. • I will not ask you to start…remind you to start...or tell you to start….when the bell rings…you should be started. • Each day you will have 4-5 minutes to complete the bellringer. You must be SILENT during the entire bellringer. Every FRIDAY you will turn in your bellringers from that week. • Your bellringer should be at least 4-5 sentences, and discuss your opinions, beliefs, reactions and other feelings about the topic.

  14. Textbook • You are responsible for ANY damage to your book not noted on your card. • You must turn in the same book that you are checked out. • Your book must be covered ALL year. • Take care of your book!!
