Rationale • Need is out there – not all receive help, practitioners have waiting lists • 40% patients attending GP for any reason have a mental health problem • 90% mental health problems treated in primary care • Many adults with mental health problems do not contact their GP or do not have their mental health need recognised • Poor access to skills and resources in primary care
