  3. Bell Work • Copy and review the JHS Alma Mater: There’s one for whom we toil We’ll let her praises ring; There’s one for whom our hearts call ‘Tis for Jones High that we sing.   4. Classwork: • With a partner, read and analyze the JHS Alma Mater • The analysis should answer the following questions: • What is it to “toil”? • Who is “her”? • Explain “our hearts call”. • What is a “beam”? • Explain the line “Leading to some higher shore”. • Describe “honor” and “esteem”.

  5. Academic Vocabulary: • Introduce the IB Learner Profile Attribute and lead a brief discussion for understanding… CARING “People want to know how much you care before they care how much you know.” Author Unknown 3. Identify and evaluate how you demonstrate that you CARE about JHS and the community?

  6. Reflection: • What does pride and tradition mean at JHS? What kind of emotions does the alma mater evoke? What does it demonstrate to see all cubs and tigers singing the alma mater at the end of each JHS event? • Elaborate.
