Coat of Arms. Why a coat of arms???. Very few people in medieval times could read or write. Pictures and other visual aids were needed to communicate important ideas or identifying classes in society.

  2. Why a coat of arms??? Very few people in medieval times could read or write. Pictures and other visual aids were needed to communicate important ideas or identifying classes in society. Knights especially depended on pictures to express their identity. Each picture had a specific meaning. When these pictures were combined, they created a “Coat of Arms” that was unique to that Knight

  3. Shields were divided into sections to represent different characteristics and information pertaining to that Knight. Your shield will be broken into 6 sections: Each section will broken into the following categories:

  4. 1.) Color- Red: Warrior Green: Hope Blue: Loyalty Black: Inteligence Pink/Purple: Peace Orange: Generosity Yellow: Joy 6.) Treasures The hopes and dreams of the Knight or the display of wealth. A picture of what you would like to do when you graduate. 5.) Nationality Displays the families place of origin. (City, State, Country) You can draw the State you are from or simply write the name. 3.) Motto- Describes a family and their history. Make your moto your goals for this school year. 2.) Animal- Bear: Size Boar: Power Crane: Cunning Dog: Loyalty Dragon: Speed Eagle: Nobility (You can write the name in color if you can’t draw it) 4.) Crest Family symbol that describe their past. You draw a hobby or things you enjoy to do. 1 2 3 4 5 6 Name
