  8. Absences and Tardiness School starts at 7:45 A.M. If you arrive after 7:45, you will need to park and come into the office to sign in your child! If your child misses school, you will need to send a written excuse stating why your child was absent. Absence forms can be found on the school website.

  11. GKIDS • GKIDS- Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills • The Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills (GKIDS) will be a performance-based assessment. The primary purpose of GKIDS is to provide ongoing diagnostic information (formative assessment) about kindergarten students’ developing skills in language arts, math, science, social studies, social/emotional development, and approaches to learning.   12. The Essential Question Learning Focused Strategies have been implemented school wide to increase student achievement.

Materials and Strategies Used to Teach • Reading- Balanced Literacy- Scott Foresman, Rigby, Leveled readers, Guided Reading Groups for each child on level Pre k – 3rd Grade • Mathematicsin whole and small groups (differentiated per each student’s needs) • Writer’s Workshop – Each child “writes and shares” everyday. See teacher letter for more information. • Science/ Social Studies/ Health Thematic Units

  14. Conferences Fall Conferences are available for you to sign up on Signup Genius.com. Conferences are offered beginning September 22.

How Can You Help at Home? *Your child MUST know their id/lunch number! *Help your child become independent and responsible by allowing them to do things for themselves. *Help your child complete any homework assignment he/she may have. (Activity Calendar) *Read, review letters/sounds, and sight words every night. *Read the weekly newsletter and check my website every week. *Practice tying shoes!!! (Shoe Tying Club to begin in October)

  16. Daily Communication Folder and Kindergarten Newsletter Please send transportation changes in writing- forms can be found on the school’s website. Please send all money in the communication folder. Lunch envelopes and ASP envelopes are always available. Please label baggie with ice cream money, too.

  17. Our End of Year Goals… • Successfully complete all Common Core Georgia Performance Standards • Become independent and responsible students • Learn critical thinking strategies • Be prepared for 1st grade
