Blue Mountains Geography • Location: Caribbean, island in the Caribbean Sea, south of Cuba. • Area: * Land: 10,831 square km. * Water: 160 square km. • Landforms: the eastern mountains, the central valleys and plateaus, and the coastal plains. The Blue Mountains are the highest area in Jamaica and are located in the eastern mountains. They measure at about 2,256 meters. • Valleys: Queen of Spains Valley, Nassau Valley, and Cave Valley are just some of them. • Rivers: the Black River, Robin’s River, Rio Minho River, Great River, and the Hectors River. There are over 100 rivers in Jamaica! • Bodies of water surrounding: Jamaica is located in the Caribbean Sea. YS Falls • Located 50 miles East of Negril and 50 miles South West of Montego Bay, YS Estate is situated in the "breadbasket" Parish of St. Elizabeth. • Has a seven tiered waterfall, natural wading pool with underground springs, river tube rides, canopy rides, relaxing gardens, and breathtaking views! • In 1995, 1996, 1997 YS Falls was the JHTA Attraction of the Year. Jamaica Scuba • The main location is in Negril, Orange Bay., but there are six other different locations all throughout Jamaica. • One of the best Scuba Diving services in all of Jamaica! • The water here is almost ALWAYS calm because it is protected from strong winds and waves. • Negril is home to a beautiful seven miles of white, sandy beaches. • The underwater landscape has incredible coral reefs and caves. • There are two underwater wrecks including two coral covered, crashed planes and a small tugboat. Everyone is welcome to visit the wrecks while they’re underwater.

Lethe Estates Ziplining • Here, you can enjoy views of rural Jamaica on the longest zipline in the Caribbean! • There are five different ziplines, each one measuring from about 250 meters to 1,600 meters! • Located just along the Great River which is just north of the small village of Pisgah in the north west corner of St Elizabeth. • Every zipline canopy tour includes an exciting off-road ride in 6-wheel drive vehicles! At the location there are also off-road safaris and jungle bridges for sightseeing!

Braco Stables • Braco Stables offers horseback riding, hiking, biking, and a tour through the charming countryside where you can gallop on the private beach with your horse, or ride in the ocean with them! • It is fun for the whole family! • You can also take special bike tours and the guides tell you all about Jamaica’s beautiful land. • Located in Falmouth, Trelawny.

Bob Marley Museum • A museum that honors the reggae legend, Bob Marley. • The museum is actually the former home and recording studio of Bob Marley. • One of the most frequently visited attractions in Jamaica’s capital, Kingston. • The guided, hour-long tour of the Bob Marley Museum provides insights into Bob Marley’s fascinating life and ends with a short film about the reggae superstar’s final days. • Located on Hope Road in Kingston. “Man is a universe within himself” – Bob Marley

Economy • Currency: Jamaican Dollar • Type: Free Market Economy • Jamaica’s economy depends on trade. • Exports: banana, sugar, coffee, beverages, tobacco, and chemicals. • Imports: food, industrial supply, fuel, machinery, and construction materials. • The United States accounts for nearly 40% of Jamaica’s imports and exports.

  13. Music The music of Jamaica includes Jamaican folk music and many popular genres, such as mento, ska, rocksteady, reggae, dub music, dancehall, rocksteady, ska jazz, reggae fusion, and related styles. Reggae Jamaican Folk Music

  14. Clothing • Traditional Jamaican dress for the women consists of a skirt, a top and a headscarf that is made from calico, a type of cotton cloth. • The dresses that Jamaican people wear are very colorful. • All men, women and children mostly wear cotton.

Jamaica is 3rd place on the list of countries to have ever won the Miss World titles the most. 8. Jamaica is very religious and the Lord’s Prayer is prayed every morning in every Jamaican Public School. 9. Jamaica is the official birth place of Reggae and Dancehall music. 10. The words barbecue, canoe, hurricane, potato and tobacco come from the language of the first colonists of Jamaica, the Arawak Indians.
