  2. Funding for Places of WorshipThe story so far… • Targeted funding for places of worship for over 15 years • 2,500 places of worship have benefitted from £231m since 2002 • Scheme focused solely on urgent repair needs

  3. Grants for Places of Worship • Listed Places of Worship • Urgent repairs remain the priority • £10,000 - £250,000 • Retaining a focus on the smaller, single phase projects • Up to 15% for works to encourage sustainable use • Encouraging wider public access

  4. GPOW Outcomes 2 Outcomes for GPOW: • Heritage in better condition (weighted) • More people and a wider range of people will have engaged with heritage

  5. Awards in Yorkshire and the Humber to date • 7 Awards • £ 1,129,400 awarded • Awards to places of worship in East Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Kingston upon Hull

  6. St Charles Borromeo, Hull • Grade II* listed St Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church in Hull • Major roof repairs to prevent water ingress and damage to the interiors • In addition to repairs, a new guidebook is being produced about the history of the building alongside a website

  7. All Saints Parish Church, Sherburn in Elmet • Urgent repairs to glazing and stonework • Urgent repairs to severely decayed tower spiral staircase • Built on existing work with the community • Plans to update the guidebook • Volunteers play a vital role

  8. St Mary the Virgin, Mirfield • Urgent repairs to its tower, stocks and the serious deterioration of external fabric and stonework • History of the church made available on website • Guide books, educational packs & special events will be created • Enabled the church to continue its important community role

  9. How will it work? • 4 deadlines a year – open to all grades • 12 week assessment • Committee decision • Retaining two round process

  10. How to apply? • Online application process • Deadlines on the HLF website GPOW page • Decisions available following three month assessment • For further advice, talk to your local team.

  12. Competition • The competition for funds is extremely strong • Check you have accessed the correct form. • Double check the supporting documentation is for the grant programme you are applying to. • Be prepared to resubmit if unsuccessful.
