A&FRC ACTIVITY DESCRIPTIONS Accessing Higher Education Track (TAP GPS) – This course is designed to guide you through the variety of decisions involved in choosing a degree completion program, college institution, and funding, as well as completing the admissions process. The expected outcome is you will create a customized plan for a successful transition to a higher education institution. Adventure Dining Out - We will introduce you to an off-base restaurant frequently visited by locals. Bring won for dinner & drink! This month will be Chicken Galbi Restaurant. Recommend bringing w 30,000 for meal & drinks. Building Healthy Marriages – This presentation focuses on the keys to building a healthy marriage: mutual trust, respect and communication. CAPSTONE Event – Final consultation with Service member to ensure separating member is career ready. A&FRC staff verifies and validates Service member transition readiness (resume, ITP review signature, applications, individualized track attendance, etc. ) Financial Readiness for 1st Duty Station Officers -Personal finance 101, mandatory class at the A&FRC for all first duty station officers, and recommended for all other junior officers. Home Buying – Buying a home is one of the largest purchase you’ll make. Learn the key elements you’ll need to know to select the right home for you, ensure you maximize your investment, learn to deal with real estate agents. Information Fair at AAFES Foodcourt area – Check out A&FRC financial programs as well as the base Community Bank and Navy Fed Credit Union financial programs. Investment 101 – Learn the basic investment strategies that will help you prepare for your future. Key Spouse: Lunch & Learn – Learn the various available on Team Osan! Bring your own lunch. Korean Folk Village – This village was established to preserve the nation’s cultural assets and introduce traditional Koreans to foreigners. Local Super Store Excursion – Visit local super stores like Homeplus, E-Mart, and AK Mall. Learn how to get there by public transportation. Newcomer’s Orientation Briefing – Mandatory Orientation held every Friday at the base theater for all new arrivals to Osan. Off Base Excursion – Take a short walking tour of the area just off base and get to experience a meal in a Korean restaurant. Parent/Child Communication – This presentation introduces the benefits of effective communication and how parents can develop healthy communication in their relationships to reinforce strong child/parent bonds. Addresses each age level. Preparing for Reunion/Reintegration – Workshop held at the A&FRC focusing on preparing for homecoming, dealing with stress, reintegration strategies. Presented by MFLC. Pre-Separation Counseling/DD 2648 Briefing – Mandatory briefing that introduces you to benefits and services available to Veterans. Held at the A&FRC classroom for all active duty military members who are separating or retiring (NLT 90 days prior to DOS/DOR). This is the prerequisite for attending Transition GPS. Résumé Basics – This is a basic résumé writing skills course. It provides the tools to prepare for and write an effective résumé. Sponsorship Training – This workshop will inform Active Duty and/or Spouses of their sponsorship responsibilities. We will also discuss best practices. For your convenience, on-line training is also available on http://apps.militaryonesource.mil/esat Spouse Orientation - Orientation for ALL spouses new to Osan. Held at the Officer’s Club. This is a great opportunity to meet key base representatives and learn about Korean Culture, the 51st Fighter Wing Mission, NEO process, gas mask demo and availability of services. Stocks and Bonds – Are you an advanced investor or want to learn about Stocks and Bonds? Taught by a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Survival Korean - Learn common expressions and phrases to survive in off-base activities. Transition GPS Workshop – Retiring in a few years or separating within a year? The 5-day Transition GPS Workshop is MANDATORY for all service members separating/retiring. Workshop focuses on preparing you for a smooth transition into the civilian world. Topics include coping with transition, financial preparation and planning, job search, resume writing, interviewing skills, salary negotiation and your VA benefits (Home Loan Guarantee Service, Health, Education and Disability Benefits, Vocational Rehabilitation and much more). Workshop is held in A&FRC Classroom. TSP & Your Retirement – TSP is a retirement benefit that is offered to employees of the U.S. Government. With TSP funds, make your retirement money work for you! USA Jobs and Federal Résumé – Learn how to navigate the complex USAJOBS hiring process, find jobs and apply for federal service. Also get tips on making your application stand out and how to put together a rewarding résumé. A federal résumé has to be tailored to the job for which you are applying. Learn how not to make the common mistake of sending a generic 1-2 page résumé to apply for a federal job. Youth Saves: Savings for Your Future – Introduction to the basics of saving for the future.
