  2. Definition Similar triangles are triangles that have the same shape but not necessarily the same size.

  3. Example Triangle A Triangle B 22 14 11 7 8 16 These two triangles are similar because triangle A is double the size of triangle B. (scale factor of 2)

  4. 36 21 12 X 27 9 Question: These two triangles are similar solve for X.

  5. 36 21 12 X 27 9 Solution: Big triangle is 3 times longer. x = 21 ÷ 3, so x = 7
