Project Objectives • To identify network composition and key individuals within each employment sector (Education, Business, Government or Nonprofit) • To identify current and emerging leaders, mentors and innovators in the composites industry in Kansas • To identify opportunities for network development www.ccsr.wichita.edu

  5. Project Methods • E-survey administered to all 139 active Wired Initiative members and 30 identified individuals • 81 participants completed survey through two waves of administration • Demographic, social network questions, and questions regarding Wired Initiative www.ccsr.wichita.edu

  15. The composites industry transformation could be accelerated if education and training institutions would… Identify the needs of industry. Identify the educational needs for future Hiring. • Ask current employers what their needs are in future hiring • Create more partnerships with the industry specialists so we can understand their desired training needs Training • Work together to produce low cost training • Enhance their training programs • Make more classes available Awareness • Build public awareness • Raise awareness of their services and resulting high pay/high demand occupations Continued networking opportunities that can lead to collaborations • Continue to collaborate • Offer ongoing networking opportunities similar to the WIRED program www.ccsr.wichita.edu

The composites industry transformation could be accelerated if business and industry would… Incentives • Have access to incentives to invest in composites technology and research • Be able to finance innovation and R&D projects Connection with education/training • Information to secondary level to educate them regarding their future in composites • Communicate to educators where they see hiring in the future, training necessary General awareness • Educate everyone about the wonderful world of Composites. Even if the lesson is a small one the goal should be to help Kansans understand the role of composites in the world today has a huge impact on our local economy. • Continue to communicate with all stakeholders Continue progress made • Insure the progress we have made under the grant continues after the funding is gone. • Continue support efforts past the grant end date. Expand network • Look for new business and industry that deal in composites • Emphasize diverse applications of composites www.ccsr.wichita.edu
