GPS:SS8H6 The student will analyze the impact of the Civil war and reconstruction on Georgia. SS8H6.a Explain the importance of key issues and events that led to the Civil War. WORK SESSION :Vocabulary Quiz: Economic growth in Georgia Complete Graphic organizer: Southern Social Ladder PowerPoint Notes: Missouri Compromise, Compromise of 1850 and Kansas-Nebraska Act Activity: Graphic organizer. NOTE: Writing assignment can be turned in with a -10 points taken off (Late one week) Writing Activity:Consider this question: Imagine yourself as a particle of matter. Create a story illustrating how heat is transferred through radiation, conduction, and convection. EQ:What happens when energy changes from one form to another? GPS:S8P2 a. Explain energy transformation in terms of the law of Conservation of Energy S8P2 b. Explain the relationship between potential and kinetic energy S8P2c. Compare and contrast the different forms of energy and their characteristics. S8CS8- Students will be familiar with the characteristics of scientific knowledge and how it is achieved. S8CS2 Student will use standard safety practices for all classroom laboratory and field investigations. (Due on February 23, 2012) Video Streaming: The Battle of Jonesboro (Complete : One-Pager 1) List two facts 2) A Picture 3) When was the battle of Jonesboro fought? 4)“Critical Thinking Question”: Why do you think the Confederate troops continued to fight courageously in the closing days of the war even though the outcome seemed hopeless? CLOSING: Civil War Battles in Georgia: Create a Graphic Organizer (Flow Chart) List the battles; write two facts about each; tell when it happened. Battles: Chickamauga, Battle of Atlanta, Kennesaw Mountain, New Hope Church, Fort McAllister II, Peachtree Creek, Lovejoy Station. HOMEWORK: Complete closing in the back of the Interactive Notebook.
