Noise Studies for NYS Route 110/ Northern State Parkway Interchange Reconstruction Noise Studies Client/Owner: New York State Dept. of Transportation, Reg. 10 Project Location: Town of Huntington, NY • GPI is providing preliminary design services (Phases I-IV) for major reconstruction and reconfiguration of the Northern State Parkway (NSP) / NYS Route 110 (Walt Whitman Road) interchange. This $43.5-million project includes replacement of the existing NSP Bridge over NYS Route 110. In addition, the project will widen NYS Route 110 from four to six lanes between the interchange and the North Service Road of the Long Island Expressway (I-495). • GPI is preparing the noise study report and supervising the collection of noise data. Project noise modeling will be done using the FHWA TNM-2.5 model, and projecting noise levels for future build conditions along the LIE, NYS Route 110, and Northern State Parkway Interchange. GPI will determine the feasibility of noise barriers and other forms of noise mitigation within the project area. • This is a NEPA Class I project and will include the development of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Preliminary design (Phases I-IV) conducted by GPI will include miscellaneous survey & mapping, soils investigation, development of alternatives with technical memorandum, evaluation of social, economic and environmental factors, storm water management, ground water analysis, visual impact assessment, bridge site data, structure justification report and public information presentations and hearings.
