UAE2 Mission Planning Meeting-GSFC June 16, 2004 • Mission Objectives: • Validation/comparison to column integrated in situ and RS retrievals • Mixed AEROSOL assessment (dust & fine mode fossil fuel) • SSA and other dust properties vs other desert regions • Validation for satellite RS retrievals (MODIS, MISR) • Ocean color validation in a dust environment (SeaPRISM)

  2. Measurement Plan • Instrumentation-Approximately 12 to 15 cimels over Island, coastal and interior locations • Includes 1 oil Platform, 2 or 3 islands, 3 coastal Arab Gulf sites, 4 desert interior sites, 2 mountain sites and 1 Arabian Sea site • Collocation w/ MAARCO and SMART • Time period: from July 1- October 1. • Manned by Sorokine, Eck, Smirnov, Newcomb • Additional observations as required • Near Real time processing; http:aeronet.gsfc.nasa.gov • Collocation w/MAARCO & SMART
