  2. Background • Globalisation – MNC take decisions at global level • National solutions are not sufficientany more • TU are not opposed to change under certain conditions • Pressure from employers – competition between sites and countries – race to the bottom • → European response

A European response • The main actor: the EWC • A key element: strong link betweenthe EWC andthenational/local level • Other actors: the EWC coordinator, thenationalunions, theiAESecretariat • Politicalpositionand commitment: iAEresolution (December 2015) • Toolboxwith concrete actions andinstruments → ourguidelines

  4. Trade Union coordinator • Trade union coordinator designated for each EWC by industriAll • Contact point for the TU and European trade union Federations • Trade union officer with a European mandate

The Coordinator: a keyfigure in EWCs • His role: guide and advise • He secures the cohesion of thegroup • He brings his knowledge of the European level • Gives a tradeunionperspective • He coordinateswiththenationalunionsandiAwherenecessary • Rolerecognised in EWC agreements. Ifnot, role • of expert paidbythe company.
