  2. Context • What are the printing substrates? • Materials frequently used on signage market, their properties and applications. • Materials leading brands. • Media List for FB7500 • Tips and tricks • Recent and future R&D activities

  3. Context • Knowledge about materials used by our customers. • Knowledge about customer applications and why they use a specific material for certain applications. • In the bottom line: better communication with customers, understanding their needs and problems. 3

  4. Media Overview 4

  5. Tip and tricks • Media Porosity (vacuum marks effect) • Media Flexibility (loading problem) • Media Curvature (mostly carton) • Media Set Up • Min Speed (safety) • Media rising optical detectors

  6. FB7500 Media List (ink 6B)

  7. Limitations • Corrugated cardboard: ink cracks after folding • Polypropylene: limited adhesion for high ink coverage in Signage print mode or faster • Polystyrene: limited adhesion for high ink coverage, ink chipping on edges after I-cutting • SAV: limited handling in ¾ automatic loading. Post-print folding causes cohesion and loss of adhesion (ink cracking)

  8. Recent and future R&D activities Ink ver. 6.5 – increased flexibility Gen7 – increased adhesion to PP and Styrene and up to 200% elongation 8
