All 9th Graders Will Take: • English I or English 1 PreAP • Algebra I or Geometry PreAP • World Geography or World Geography PreAP • Biology or Biology PreAP • Athletics or PE (or equivalent, Band, Dance, Drill Team, etc) • Foreign Language • One Elective • Then choose THREE Alternate Electives

  6. 10th Graders Will Take • English II or English II PreAP • Geometry, Geometry PreAP, or Algebra II or Algebra II PreAP • Chemistry or Chemistry PreAP • World History or World History AP • Fine Arts or Elective • Foreign Language or Elective • Health/Comm Apps (if not completed) • 3 Alternates

  7. 11th Graders Will Take • English III or English III AP or ACC English • Algebra II, Algebra II PreAP, PreCal or PreCalPreAP • Physics or Physics PreAP • US History, US History AP, or ACC US History • Three Electives***** • Three Alternate Electives ****May need to be Foreign Language, PE, or Fine Art

  8. 12th Graders Must Take • English IV or English IV AP or ACC Literature • PreCal, Advanced Math, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, Algebra II, or Math Elective • Environmental Systems, Anatomy and Physiology, Biology AP, Chemistry AP, Scientific Research, Physics (if not completed) • Government, Government AP, or ACC Government • Economics, Economics AP • 3 Electives (to meet requirements) • 3 Alternate Electives

  9. If you do not select an alternate elective!!!! • A counselor or administrator will place you in an elective and, likely, you will not be permitted to change it. • You will lose your freedom of choice for your elective credit. It will be chosen for you.

  10. 4 x 4 Graduation Plan • 4 years of English • 4 years of Math • 4 years of Science • 4 years of Social Studies (including Govt & Eco) • 1 year or 2 semesters of P.E. • 0.5 Communication Applications • 0.5 Health (Class of 2015 and beyond only) • 1 year of Fine Arts • 2 years of the SAME Foreign Language (3 for DAP) • Plus credits of Electives to total 26

  11. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS All students are enrolled in the Recommended Plan Recommended Plan – 26 Credits Distinguished Achievement Plan (DAP) – • 26 credits • 3rd year of Foreign Language • Combination of at least 4 AP or Dual Credit college courses.

Dual Credit • Students may take ACC dual credit college courses beginning the summer after their SOPHOMORE year. • Currently, we have a path for the 3rd and 4th year of English and Social Studies courses. More courses may be added by ACC throughout your high school career. • Weighted Courses • PreAP/Dual Credit (x1.15) • AP (x1.17)

What are GPA & Class Rank • GPA – grade point average determined by grade you earn in each course • Class Rank - calculated by how many students are in your graduating class and is based upon your GPA • Top 10 % RULE – student is automatically admitted to a PUBLIC University in Texas (determined annually for UT-Austin Freshmen Class) Colleges look at both!!!

Choosing next year classes • Counselors will meet INDIVIDUALLY with each student • Students will hand the counselor the completed COURSE SELECTION SHEET • Counselors and staff will enter each students choices into Skyward • Later in the Spring, course selection choices will be returned to each student for review and approval

  16. Things to remember: • Students may not repeat previously passed courses for credit. Do not repeat a course you have already passed. • Students must choose SEVEN classes plus three alternate electives. Failure to choose alternate electives can result in you being placed in a course you did not choose. • Students must take English, math, science, and social studies each year in high school. • Sophomores must take health their 10th grade year.
