  2. Title A title is the name of a book, essay, article, etc. Titles may be descriptive and give us a glimpse into what the book might be about. Title sometimes give a brief summary of what is going to come in the book.

  3. Pictures Pictures are often found in writing in order to help us VISUALIZE what we are reading about! (Remember, visualizing is one of our reading strategies!!) Pictures also make what we are reading seem more interesting.

  4. Caption Rob & Big was an American reality television series that followed the lives of professional skateboarder, Rob Dyrdek, and his best friend and body guard, Christopher "Big Black" Boykin. • A caption could be found near a picture that has been inserted in the text and explains or give us more information about what is going on in the picture. • Usually the writing is smaller than the rest of the text. This photograph shows Rob and Big during the first season of the show.

  10. Chart/Table Charts and Tables are visual displays of information. Charts and Tables organize information into a small space.

  11. Glossary Skateboard Glossary 360: when a skateboarder and his board turns 360 degrees while in the air. Axle: the metal rod that runs through the hangar of a skateboard’s truck. Deck: the flat, long, oval/rectangular, wooden part of the skateboard you stand on. A glossary is an alphabetized list of terms and definitions for a specific subject. Glossaries are usually found in the back of a book. A Glossary is like a mini-dictionary.
