  2. What is Silver Dart Silver Dart is aaircraft. A early experimental aircraft . Silver Dart was a proposed eight-person lifting body orbital spaceplane conceived by Planet Space in the 2000s. The first powered, heavier-than-air machine to fly in Canada.

Basic Data of Silver Dart Length: 30 ft 0 in (9.14 m) Height: 9 ft 7 in (2.92 m) Empty weight: 320 lb (145 kg) Maximum speed: 40 mph (64 km/h; 35 kn) Range: 20 mi (17 nmi; 32 km) Wing area: 563 sq ft (52.3 m2) Wingspan: 40 ft 1 in (12.22 m) Powerplant: 1 × Curtiss 50hp V-8 V-8 air-cooled piston engine, 50 hp (37 kW)

  4. The Maker: The original designer is John McCurdy and then it was improved and built by Alexander Graham Bell and members of the Aerial Experiment Assn. March 3, 1847 – August 2, 1922

  5. About Aerial Experiment Association John Alexander Douglas McCurdy He was a Canadian aviation pioneer and the20th Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia from 1947 to 1952. (August 2, 1886 – June 25, 1961)

  6. Alexander Graham Bell • He was an eminent scientist, inventor, engineer and innovator . • The inventor of telephone. Besides, Many other inventions marked Bell's later life, including groundbreaking work in optical telecommunications , hydrofoils and aeronautics .

The record of times • Produced: 1908 • The Silver Dart lifted off on February 23th1909. • The Silver Dart flown again on March 10th1909. • The first passenger flight in Canada was made in the Silver Dart on August 2th 1909. • A small group of volunteers building a flying replica of the Silver Dart in early 2009. • In 2013, it was moved to the museum in Baddeck, where it will be on display.

  9. At the beginning of the 1900s,there was a person who interested in astrnomy.His name is Alexander Graham Bell.He found a guy named Glenn Hammond Curtiss had the same interest as him.

  10. In October 1907,Bell set up the Aerial Experiment Association(AEA) The members in this group were all the young people who well in the astrnomy. After the Wright Brothers ivented the first plane,in other places,people also wanted to build their own plane.So the AEA started to major in building it.

  11. 1909.1——1909.2 Then for was safekeeping, it brought to Baddeck Bay. Silver Dart’s first flight is in HAMMONDSPORT NY in America.

  12. The procedure of the silver dart • The frame and structure of the Silver Dart were made of steel tube, bamboo , friction tape , wire and wood. • From 1891, Bell had begun experiments, and finished in 1908.

  13. Built by members of the Aerial Experiment Association, the Silver Dart was the first fixed-wing powered aircraft flown in Canada.
