  2. Obstructive lung disease • Increase TLC • Increase in RV • Decrease in peak expiratory flow e.g. asthma Increased airway resistance  increased loss of pressure  early small airway closure  decreased FVC, FEV1 and increased RV

  3. Restrictive disease • Decreased TLC • Decrease in RV e.g. fibrosis Decreased ability of lungs to expand during inspiration  decreased FVC Only inspiration affected.

  4. normal (A), obstructive (B), and restrictive (C) patterns.
