  6. 1. Teaching Materials 1.2 Status and Function The theme of this unit is disasters that are caused by natural forces. The teaching contents of the whole unit will be arranged as the following:

  7. 1. Teaching Materials 1.2 Status and Function Using Language –Listening and Speaking is in the middle of the unit. It helps the students to understand the frightening experiences of a volcanologist, and encourage them to express their feelings and emotions of joy, fear, anxiety and surprise. Key words: volcanoes, frightening experiences emotion expressions

  8. 2. The Students • 2. The Students • The students in Senior 2: • have a better understanding of some of the social issues; • have learned about the dangers people face in a quake; • are familiar with some of the listening skills; • are not so confident when they speak English.

Teaching Objectives Key words: volcanoes, frightening experiences emotion expressions • 3.1 Language Knowledge Objectives: • To understand the new words: volcano, tremble, lave, ash cloud, anxious, panic volcanologist and sweat. • 3.2 Language Skill Objectives: • To understand the frightening experiences in the listening text; • To find out the expressions of emotions and feelings while listening; • To talk about their feelings during or after a frightening experience.

They develop their safety awareness of in a disaster.
