  1. JROTC JCLC 2013 Cadre Guidance Camp Forest Lawn Cedar Glen, CA June 22-27, CA

  2. Cadet Eligibility • Good standing in JROTC program • MUST be medically qualified • Academically qualified (min 2.0 GPA) • Returning to JROTC in SY 13-14 • Completed/submitted all CC required forms • No cadet early departures (by exception) • Meet grooming standards (male haircuts)

  3. Uniform Policy • All cadets and cadre will wear the ACU’s • No individual camelbacks, issue canteens. • No civilian clothes authorized, except for: • PT gear w/running shoes. • Sleeping attire • Cadets will depart and return in ACU’s

  4. Camp Forest Lawn • 160 miles away from San Diego • Cadets sleep in 2-man tents • Cadre will have single tent • Hot days (high 80’s mid 90) • Cool nights (mid-low 50’s) • Elevation 4,600ft

  5. Cadet packing list • Cell phones will be collected and stored. • No personal luggage, use dufflebags. • Cadets will get a full list of recommended items to bring; however, at a minimum each cadet MUST bring: • Sleeping bag (mandatory) • Uniforms • Black sweatshirt w/o hoodie • Sufficient socks and undergarments • Towel and toiletries • Cadets may bring a backpack, but No other bags except duffle bags • DO NOT bring snacks! Animals will get to your bags

  6. Unit configuration • Companies will be configured by mixing-in cadets from all units. • Each school will submit roster by Friday, May 8th. Identify Co Cdr, XO, 1SG, Guidon Bearer and three Sqd Ldrs. • Each company will only retain their Co Cdr, and Guidon Bearer. • Recommend that schools identify their strongest cadets to fill these positions.

  7. Pre-Camp Training Requirements • Break-in boots NOW! • Inventory and secure. • Survey cadets on swimming competencies. • Conduct Map Reading, Compass, Heat Injuries, Insect bites and other relevant First Aid classes. • Teach cadence calling • Review new position duties to designated leaders. Explain daily PCI’s, accountability, health and welfare and other leadership responsibilities in the field • Review Yellow and Blue Cards with Cadet Leadership.

Administrative Notes • Cadre Camp Info Packets • Each school must bring their compasses. • Compass, Map Reading, orienteering and calculating pace count classes will be taught by respective school cadre. • Sick/Injured Squad • Units will conduct “Fire-watch” in their respective Company area. 2200-0600. • Cadre will call and report headcount and departure time when bus departs to JCLC.

  14. Motivational/Teambuilding • Begins day 1 after in-processing/orientation. • Each Company will have a unit motto by morning formation on June 23, 2012. • Evening events on June 26nd include: • Slide show • Awards Ceremony • Marksmanship • Unit Motivational Cadets • Camp Medals/Ribbons • Movie Night / Dance?
