  2. Media Center Hours Mon. - Tues. - Thurs. 7 am to 4 pm Wed. and Fri. 7 am to 3 pm

  3. Food and drink (except plain water) are not allowed in the Media Center

  4. Ask anyone for help!Each Media Specialist has subject expertise and works closely with specific departments

  5. Information Desk • Checking Out Materials • Returning Materials • Textbook Loan • Supplies • Copier • Catalog

  6. Books and audio books check out for 2 weeks. DVDs and videos check out overnight. Have your GHS ID Card to borrow materials!

  7. Return materials in the Information Desk book return slot or the book drop bins around the school

  8. Most course textbooks are available to sign out to use in the Media Center

  9. Index cards are for sale and paper, tissues and other supplies are available at the Information Desk

  10. Copier makes letter and legal size copies, one or two sided, 10 cents a side. No cash? Ask for an IOU at the Information Desk.

  11. Students arriving from Learning Centers – please drop off your pass and get it signed when leaving.

  12. Computers open to the online catalog of materials are located by the entrance and near the subject areas of the Media Center. . Best strategy to find materials is by keyword, title or author search.

  15. Print encyclopedias and other reference books are located on the low shelves in the center section. Also remember to use our online research tools !

  16. Dictionaries and thesauruses are found on spinner racks on top of the reference book shelves.

  17. Magazines and newspapers are located in the Periodical area. Current magazines are on display behind the seating area by the entrance.

  18. More than 4000 magazines and newspapers are in ProQuest on our website under Online Research Pull down menu to see all our ProQuest databases

  19. Research assigned?Our databases and other online resources can be used anywhere 24/7. Get the home use password from your teacher or at the Media Center Information Desk. Just one for all!

  21. DVDs, videos and audio books are locatednext to the Periodical section.

  22. Art prints and slides are located beside the door to Meeting Room 2 and may be checked out by staff or students.

  25. To access school computers: USER NAME: Student Number exactly as it is on your ID card PASSWORD: Student’s birthdate mddyyyy (no lead zero – no slashes) Then reset password Media Center floor computers are available for individual use. Computer labs are used for scheduled classes.

  26. Most Media Center computers print to the table near the front desk(Pull down print menu to select Media 1 or 2) Take what you print! Check Print Preview first. Save Paper !

  27. To transfer documents between school and home computers, use email attachment with web based email address such as yahoo or hotmail At school ALWAYS open the doc first, save to your ID# folder and then make changes Or better yet - use Google docs, a flash drive or Portal Digital Locker

  29. UsePowerPointor other presentation software for creating slide shows or other media rich projects for for class

  30. TV Production department on lower level of Media Center wing offers scheduled classes and time for individual students to work on class projects. Stop by to schedule work or help time.
