  1. Superintendent Update September 12th 2011

  2. Enrollment • K-5 1480 • Middle School 489 • High School 1155 • Early Childhood 104 • ALC 79 • 3307 Students • 70 more students in K-6 grades then a year ago.

  3. Safe, Healthy, Welcoming Schools • Calmer environment in K-5 and middle school • Food choices are popular at the high school and middle school • New school busses have many safety features • High School Parking Lot is a work in progress after school during pick up times • Second lunch at high school was too crowded, 116 students were shifted to third lunch today

  4. Increase Opportunity and Achievement • Best staff development that I have seen in over 20 years in education. Principals are receiving ongoing training on Professional Learning Community implementation. K-12 Professional Staff had a great in-service with a PLC expert. Special Education staff received an outstanding in-service as well. • Our training is aligned with where we are headed as a district. • Some class sizes in the high school are large, administration is looking at options to reduce them.

  5. Effective and Efficient Operations • Technology upgrade has been a continuous challenge since July. We have turned the corner on this issue. • Genesis implementation for student management has been slow. Teachers have the opportunity to receive additional training to help with their comfort level. We are looking to go live with the system around mid-quarter.

  6. Communications • District has created a new Facebook page as another avenue to stay connected with the community.
