Instead, they indulge in generating revenue for a cause that mutually benefits society or a public cause. NPOs usually include churches, labor unions, self-help groups, welfare societies, museums, etc.

If we talk about the characteristics of NPOs, they include: • They are organized bodies. • These are private groups, which means no interference from the government. • They are self-governing groups. • They belong to the voluntary sector of the organization, which means that their primary concern is to create a social impact at large and not to generate revenue. • These are non-profit-distributing organizations, which implies that the revenue generated and collected by them will be used for social purposes and will not be shared amongst their shareholders or owners.
