  1. Acidophilus and Acne There are many over-the-counter products that claim to rid acne sufferers of their blemishes. However, people who suffer from acne are beginning to be worried more and more about the effects that some of these products may have on their overall health. This presents a problem from manufacturers who load their products up with harmful chemicals. At Cape Fear Natural, we believe that health and wellness are all about balance. This is the principle behind how probiotics like acidophilus works. Acne sufferers in particular are beginning to see some encouraging signs that acidophilus may have positive effects on their condition. What is acne? Acne is a skin condition that causes the follicles of your hair to become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. This results in the development of whiteheads, blackheads and/or pimples that can appear on many places on the body. Acne can strike at any age but most commonly begins between the ages of 10 and 15. It generally lasts five to ten years in teens and disappears in most people by the time they reach the age of 21 or so. Despite this, women in their 30 and beyond are also known to develop mild to moderate forms of acne. How does probiotics work on acne? Acidophilus – also known as lactobacillus acidophilus– is believed to relieve acne symptoms by introducing into the body healthy bacteria that can reduce inflammation. Some dermatologists believe that based on this there is compelling evidence that probiotics like acidophilus can be helpful in the treatment of acne and rosacea. Additionally, studies from Italy, Russia and Korea suggest that probiotics in combination with traditional acne treatments may indeed increase the rate of acne clearance.

  2. Supplementation Some nutritionists believe that when the body’s natural acidophilus levels are depleted, supplementation is needed as a way of helping to restore the body’s natural balance of helpful bacteria. They recommend taking nutritional supplements after consulting with your doctor and/or nutritionists. Our site sells acidophilus in 6 billion IU capsules. We also sell progesterone cream which is believed to help women who are suffering from the symptoms of menopause. Just remember, as is the case with acidophilus supplementation, to consult with your physician or nutritionist before trying these supplements.
