  2. Task Force on Measurements and Modelling, Valencia, Spain, 9-11 April 2003 Four stages of the intercomparison Stage I. Comparison of chemical modules for mercury transformations in a water droplet (completed) (article published in Atmospheric Environment, 36, pp. 3881–3898, 2002) Stage II. Comparison of the modeling results with observations during short episodes Stage III. Comparison of the modeling results with observations for the whole 1997 Stage IV. Comparison of items of atmospheric budgets of for the EMEP domain and for some selected countries (UK, Poland and Italy) EMEP/MSC-E

  13. Task Force on Measurements and Modelling, Valencia, Spain, 9-11 April 2003 Analysis of air mass trajectories Back trajectory for 12:00, November 04, 1999 EMEP/MSC-E

  14. Task Force on Measurements and Modelling, Valencia, Spain, 9-11 April 2003 Back trajectory for 12:00, November 04, 1999 EMEP/MSC-E

  15. Task Force on Measurements and Modelling, Valencia, Spain, 9-11 April 2003 • Conclusions • The models well (within factor of 2) reproduced TPM concentrations • Models reproduced mean levels of TGM, but peaks were mainly underestimated • Current knowledge on RGM should be improved • MSCE_Hg model demonstrates good comparability with advanced scientific mercury transport models • Further stages of the intercomparison study are devoted to simulation of transboundary transport for the whole year EMEP/MSC-E
