  1. THUNDERBIRDS 8th Grade Electives for 2011-2012

  2. REGISTRATION All students will be enrolled into: • Academic Block (ELA & History) • Science • Math • PE • Elective

  3. MATH PLACEMENT • All 8th Graders will be in Algebra I • Current 7th Graders in Algebra I (A), will be in Geometry • All 8th Graders will take the Algebra Readiness Test

  4. Academic Seminar Elective Language Arts or Math • CST Results (BB or FBB) • Grades (F in Math or AB) • Not Turning in Homework • Algebra Placement Test or LAFT

  5. Elective Choices Automatic – Classes are not Impacted • Choral Music • Instrumental Music

  6. Elective Choices Needs a Teacher Signature • Academic Assistant (TA) • Advanced Art • Advanced Drama • Advanced Ceramics • Certain Music Classes (Instrumental/Choral)

  7. Elective Choices Requires an Application and Signature • School Service (Park-Ramos J1) • Peer Counseling (McLean C5) • Yearbook (Bishop F1)

  8. Elective Choices Impacted Classes • Strength and Conditioning Class • Wheel (8th Graders)

  9. ELECTIVE WHEEL Rotation process of two or three courses depending on elective period: • Art • Ceramics • Drama • Exploring Tech • Music Appreciation • Leadership

  10. ZERO PERIOD PE • Zero Period PE – Performing Arts ONLY • Students may take two music electives or Advanced Drama and Zero Period PE • Starts at 6:45 am • PARENT PERMISSION REQUIRED

  11. Registration • April 4th(YOU ARE HERE) • Turn in Applications • April 15th Bring Form and Register • After April 15th – Turn in to Lightning • Class Availability after April 15th??? • Need a Parent/Guardian Signature • Questions – Check the Form!!!
