  1. Future InternetIntegration of the Real World Dr Srđan Krčo Ericsson

  2. Real World Internet • Everything on Internet • Everybody on Internet

  3. Real World Internet • Integration of the physical world into the Future Internet • Sensors, actuators, RFID enabled items, heterogeneous network enabled machines and everyday items • Merging the digital and the physical worlds and enabling a range of new and enhanced Internet services and applications • Current sensor and actuator network deployments are still relatively sparse and built as independent, vertically closed solutions • It is necessary to interconnect individual installations • Seamless interaction with other Internet users • Unified access to the information and services they provide

  4. Top level goal of SENSEI • Design the foundations of a framework that enables an open market place for real world information and interaction

  5. Vision • Sensors, actuators and efficiently networked nodes deployed everywhere and interconnected • Mobile  Static, Small  Large WSN • Deployed by individuals, companies, WSN operators • Accessible and controllable through a global sensor and actuator networking framework • Standardised interfaces for interaction with the physical world • “Open market“ for interaction with the physical world

  6. An application scenario Emma’s commute

  7. How far are we from real world awareness? • Enabling technologies already maturing • Sensor and actuator networks • Data fusion and classification, inference/reasoning and machine learning • Distributed service composition and semantic web technologies • Key is to combine these technologies into a homogeneous fabric for real world information and interactions • Provide an easily accessible resource pool in which Internet application and services can tap in to interact with the real world • Enable an open market space around it for real world information and interactions

  8. Air quality map
