  2. Sunday 4/20 Do Now • What are some facts your know or information you would like to know about North America?

  3. Sunday 4/24 – Landforms in north America • Size: 2nd largest country: Canada3rd largest country: U.S.A. (combine with Russia these three countries make up 1/8 of that total landmass on earth). • Abundance of resources: fertile soil, water, forest, minerals

  4. Sunday 4/24 – Landforms in north America • 5 major landforms • Eastern Lowlands – flat plain - piedmont: rolling hills, rivers/streams • Appalachian Highland: mountain chain- more than 4 million years old so eroded (few high peaks – 2400ft)- Appalachian Trail: 2,160 miles of hiking trail

Western: mountains, plateaus, basins - Rocky Mountains: 3,000 miles long (Alaska to New Mexico) with high peaks (12000ft) because new (not eroded) - Continental Divide: highest point of Rockies – separates river flow between East and West - Mt. McKinley: Highest Mountain in North America (20,320 feet)
