  4. Before the fair • Research the firms attending • Select your top 6-8 firms • Update your resume • Relevant experience • Include # of credits, GPA and graduation date • Prepare! • Dress professionally • Plenty of copies of your resume

Networking etiquette • Greeting, introduction & handshake • Do your homework on the company: • Type of service • Who is their competitor • Size of the firm within its industry • Organizational structure • Geographical locations • Eye contact & body language • Attitude: Speak positively about yourself and others, while maintaining humility • Integrity: Be honest and concise with your answers • Nonverbal: Use body language to show interest • Be yourself!!

Networking etiquette • Sell yourself… But don’t oversell yourself • Make a good first impression • Share your major, interests, and desired career path • Keep it short and conversational • Save details for an interview • Ask questions • What gives your firm an edge over the competition? • What do you like most about working for this company? • “Thank you!” & handshake • Follow-up email

  8. After the fair • Send a follow-up email • Make sure your tone is appropriate; it can easily be misunderstood • ALWAYS read and re-read your email before it goes out • Don’t forget the rules of spelling and grammar • Never omit a greeting and/or closing • Never use ALL CAPITALS
